A conversation with Goddess scholar extraordinaire Miriam Robbins Dexter. We discuss her invaluable much used book Whence the Goddesses: A Source Book which traces the sources of early historic Indo-European (Greco-Roman, Indic, Iranian, Germanic, Lithuanian, Latvian, Slavic, Irish, and Welsh) goddesses and heroines, beginning with Neolithic iconography and continuing through the iconography and functions of Near Eastern goddesses. An accomplished linguist, Miriam translated texts from all of these cultures, so that the reader has the primary sources for all of these female figures, Miriam speaks of the goal of her work as an honoring of the feminine divine as an important part of radical feminism.
